One of the issues that has captured the attention of the association is environmental degradation and climate change.
These risks and changes, which are increasing day by day, have led the association to adopt a development approach that
mitigates these risks according to its capabilities. The association has consistently organized a variety of international
and local activities related to the environment, both in urban areas and in forests and national parks. The aim is to
create green spaces and expand them, combat desertification, and reduce soil erosion.
This is achieved through planting
trees and restoring forest paths,as well as by organizing international camps for children to raise awareness about the
importance of preserving the environment.
The association's doors are open to volunteers, whether individuals, groups, or institutions, to help achieve the association’s environmental goals.
Our slogan is:"The safety of generations depends on the preservation of environmental safety."
As part of the partnership between Association Companions for International Volunteering and Tassomaait Public School, members of the association and international volunteers organize activities throughout the year for the benefit of the institution and its students. The association has established an environmental club at this school to provide children with both theoretical and practical guidance in environmental matters, in addition to creating green spaces within the institution.
One of the schools that benefit from our theoretical and practical environmental activities is Al Khansaa School. These activities include conducting environmental experiments that help students gain a deeper understanding of the requirements of plant life on earth and conducting plant planting workshops in the school's space. In this context, the association opens its doors to welcome volunteers in plant sciences or others to lead workshops for the students of this institution.
Asmaa Public School in the city of Ouarzazate and its students benefit from the association's international environmental projects.
The association organizes
camps and workshops throughout the year, especially during school vacations. Through these workshops, students learn the fundamental principles of environmental
conservation, such as planting and caring for plants in the school garden located in the institution's courtyard.
Additionally, they prepare reports and research
on environmental risks, print them, and distribute them to raise awareness among their classmates about the importance of preserving the environment.
The forests on the outskirts of cities hold great importance, serving as a recreational outlet for residents and acting as the lungs
of the urban environment. In the city of Ouarzazate, its forest functions as a green belt that moderates the city’s climate and acts as a
barrier against the winds that occasionally affect the area. Additionally, it helps stabilize the soil, which suffers from significant
erosion around the city’s edges.
In this context, the association, in partnership with local institutions, has worked to care for this
forest by planting trees and regularly maintaining its facilities and pathways throughout the year.
Taghremt is a forest located on the outskirts of Ouarzazate and includes a nursery for producing various trees to benefit other forests
in the region. This nursery is managed by the National Agency for Water and Forests in Ouarzazate, with which we have a partnership aimed at
caring for the Taghremt forest and maintaining the nursery, including watering the plants, pruning them, packaging them in bags, and regularly
checking the signs that emphasize the importance of preserving the forest facilities.
Since the forest is a popular destination for residents on weekends, the association is committed to educating visitors about the forest's role
in relation to the city and its inhabitants, in addition to offering activities for children in the park.
In the northwest of the city of Ouarzazate lies a newly established forest, located about 10 kilometers from the city center.
The forest requires care for its trees, including watering, replacing dead trees, and planting more in the empty spaces of the park.
the association companions for international volunteering has a partnership with the Ouarzazate Regional Council, which is responsible for
overseeing the project. Our role as a civil society organization is to recruit volunteers to help develop this park and provide the necessary
tools for that purpose.
The project is in urgent need of volunteers every month, except for July and August, with an average of 15 volunteers
for each volunteer camp. Their role will primarily involve planting and caring for the trees during the volunteering period.
The door to volunteering is open to anyone interested.
Scheduled activity:This international workcamp of environment - related activities is one
of the key and important initiatives of the association. Volunteers will engage in activities related to the environment, such as
planting and pruning trees, maintaining forest pathways, caring for nurseries, and watering plants.
The camp will be held in a forest on the outskirts of the city, in a public institution, or in a national park within the territorial areas of Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
The workcamp will be supervised by a technical manager whose task is explain the work to be done and to provide all the material needed to carry out the project.
